Sheila Webber at LILAC

Sheila Webber was active at the LILAC conference in Manchester this week. She presented a workshop and a poster on the project #infolitpro: Developing profiles of the information literacy professional , an IFLA Information Literacy Section initiative that she is leading. She also presented a paper with some initial findings from the AHRC-funded Deep Critical Information Behaviour project: Collaborating for deep critical information behaviour (coauthors Nigel Ford, Mary Crowder, Andrew Madden). Current MA Librarianship student Roisin Cassidy also attended the conference, as one of the winners of a sponsored student place.

Lunchtime Careers Events for ISchool Students

Over the last month we’ve had an exciting selection of lunch time Careers events for students in the ISchool. These included a visit from IBM with the opportunity for students to have a one-to-one with IBM staff, including former iSchool student James Ansell, and an Accenture Interview and Assessment Centre Workshop run by ISchool alumnus, now Accenture employee, Dr Claire-Marie Hanford. We’re looking forward to more events after the Easter break, including a workshop on enterprise and making ideas happen, and sessions on information careers in the health and media sectors.

iSchool Student Bake Off - Wed 13 Mar

The iSchool Student Bake Off takes place on Wednesday 13th March, 12.00-14.00, in the iSpace, Regent Court. Our students are supplying cakes, and you are invited to drop by and judge their efforts. There will be a vote to decide the day's Star Baker. For as little as £1 you can have a hot drink and cake, with all proceeds going to Comic Relief .

Jonathan Foster visiting India

Jonathan Foster is currently in India from the 10-16th March, visiting universities and educational agencies to raise awareness of PGT courses; and to talk with students who are looking to apply to our PGT courses here at Sheffield. The whistlestop tour is taking in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, and Mumbai; and it's proving to be a diverse, ordered, sometimes bamboozling place!
